CWYSC Coaches Checklist

COACHES: Please complete the Risk management form above will get into the EPYSA Database. I'll also need a 1x1 or digital photo. We also need to confirm that you and your assistant coaches do not have a criminal record. Ideally, a photocopy of a divers license will confirm legal name; we use Family Watchdog to check to see if they have a record.

BEGINNING OF SEASON/PRE-SEASON:

  1. Pick a practice schedule: M/W or T/TH ... 5:30-7:00 or 7:00-8:30
  2. Pick an assistant coach
  3. Have a team meeting, outline expectations, assign roles, etc...
  4. Recruit a Team Manager to assist with team party, picture forms, fund raisers, concession assignments, paperwork, etc.
  5. Meet with Coaching Committee to understand roles, expectations, training, etc.
  6. Collect all paperwork for players and assistant(s).
  7. Check for contact information online @ cwsoccer.info/
  8. Outline the daily practice schedule/checklist: what to cover, time spent, etc...

WEEK BEFORE THE GAME:

  1. Home coach, should contact the away coach to confirm time and location of the game.
  2. Make sure the visiting coach has the correct map/directions to the field.
  3. Remind all parents via team manager, email, or phone call about the time and location of the game.
  4. Make sure that players who can't make the game know to tell you that beforehand.
  5. Task the team manager with a snack schedule for that week, one player for each half of the game. ???? maybe at U9
  6. Home game concessions are the responsibilities of the team.
  7. [!!] COPY YOUR STAMPED ROSTER [!!] DO NOT GIVE YOUR STAMPED ROSTER TO A REFEREE, THEY WILL PROBABLY KEEP IT!! Make copies of your roster to give out at game time. If you would like a PDF of your roster to print out, contact the Registrar.
  8. Make a list of Players with Jersey Numbers for game day; give a copy to the opposing teams coach before the game if they want one.

DURING THE SEASON:

  1. Create a field painting schedule. Fields need to be painted as needed... possibly weekly).

GAME DAY:

  1. Home games/first game: make sure flags are up.
  2. Concessions?
  3. Show up at least a half hour before the game.
  4. Check with other coach if they need anything: (team roster, etc.)
  5. Provide referee with game card, copy of the roster, player passes, and ref. fees.
  6. At the end of the game the referee must sign game card and provide the score, and return game card and passes.
  7. Ref. fees — DO NOT expect REFs to make change.
  8. Login to RBJSL to record game scores. [!!] NOTE ABOUT ENTERING SCORES: Scores must be posted by 6 p.m. Monday after game week. If you are late, RBJSL will send out an email on Tuesday with missing scores. If scores are not fixed by the following Tuesday, our club will be fined!
  9. In the event of inclement weather the games will be canceled by the field commissioner. COACHES DO NOT CANCEL GAMES. Contact your team players if the game is canceled.
  10. Keep a list of home, cell and emergency phone numbers for each player.
  11. If you are the last game of the day, put the flags away, close the concession stand, collect any trash or debris left on or around the field, and empty all trash cans.

AFTER THE GAME:

  1. [!!] IMPORTANT [!!] Enter your GAME SCORE into RBJSL’s Web Site; If you don’t remember to do this, the club will be FINED at the end of the season! In order to keep the game scores up to date for team-standings, please enter your game scores right away following the game; Scores must be posted by 6 p.m. Monday after game week. If you are late, RBJSL will send out an email on Tuesday with missing scores. If scores are not fixed by the following Tuesday, our club will be fined!
  2. Problems/Concerns about a game? [!!] DO NOT CONTACT THE LEAGUE [!!] Please forward all concerns to your commissioner, league rep, or at the next club meeting. Do not contact anyone at the league directly about a Ref, Coach, or Players from another team.

END OF SEASON:

  1. [!!] RETURN ALL PASSES AND GAME CARDS TO REGISTRAR [!!]
  2. Return Game Card to Registrar or Commissioners.
  3. Have a team party.
  4. Contact the Coaching Committee to indicate your intentions/preferences for next season: coach or not, what division, etc.

OFF SEASON:

  1. Coaching Classes: Training available throughout the year
  2. Tournaments: optional but available for those interested
  3. Winter / Indoor Soccer: to be managed by the coach, not the club
  4. Monthly meetings, generally 3rd Thursday of each month, location TBA
